Playmobil unveils iconic Mini Cooper

Published on: 17th January 2022

The Playmobil Mini Cooper has been reproduced in its original design with authentic details including matching figures and accessories.

The Mini Cooper symbolizes for many the independence and spontaneity of the 1960s. Now the unique combination of classic British style in a small size, fun and nimble package appears in Playmobil format, with lovingly detailed design and individual parts in a shining chrome finish.

The design of the original Mini remained almost unchanged for nearly forty-one years; for designer Alec Issigonis, “creative use of space” and “focus on the essentials” were so important that there was no room for heating or radio, and sliding windows were used instead of retractable ones.

The Playmobil model Mini Cooper’s tailgate can be opened, and four figures fit into the small interior through the removable roof. The classic vehicle shines with detailed design, as well as chrome-coloured accents. In addition to two figures in colourful retro outfits and a Dalmatian, the set also includes a policeman in a classic Bobby uniform.

The Playmobil Mini Cooper measures L 18,5 x D 10 x H 8 cm and is available now.

After careful consideration, the Horst Brandstätter Group has made the decision that Playmobil will not to be present on site at any trade fair in Q1 2022, so the company will not be exhibiting at London Toy Fair. Instead, Playmobil will offer its partners and customers a completely virtual experience. ‘New Playmobil Highlights 2022’ will be presented via an innovative digital presence and showrooms.

In a statement, the company said: “We regret that we will not be able to be on site, but we consider ourselves to have a corporate responsibility and see our decision as an active contribution to containing the incidence of infection wherever possible.”
