Spin Master launches Bitzee interactive digital pets

Published on: 18th May 2023

A digital pet that you can really touch, each Bitzee evolves from a baby to a super Bitzee, and kids can collect up to 15 characters all in one pod.

Spin Master has unveiled breakthrough innovation in the digital pet category with Bitzee, digital pets that kids can really touch. Housed inside a purple pod, once opened, Bitzee pets come to life with an innovative, full colour display that kids can touch, feel and interact with – introducing an all-new play experience.

In its most recent set of financial results, Spin Master promised to bring breakthrough innovation to the toy aisle in 2023, and Bitzee is tipped to be one of the must have toys for Christmas this year.

“Spin Master has a reputation for delivering unique innovation and disrupting play patterns, transforming the way kids play and interact with toys,” said Chris Beardall, Spin Master’s president of Toys and chief commercial officer. “Bitzee epitomizes our obsession with pushing the boundaries of play, introducing adorable digital pets that kids can really touch, feel and interact with, reimagining a once two-dimensional interaction and infusing it with colour, gamification and collectability.”

Bitzee starts as an 8-bit puppy character. Just like a real pet, Bitzee needs love and care to help it grow; virtual interactions allow kids to feed them, rock them to sleep and clean up after them too. They will respond to tilts, swipes and shakes with adorable sounds and reactions. Pets which are not given enough love will run away, but can always be coaxed back with a treat and some extra attention. When the love meter is full, that means the Bitzee is ready to evolve.

Recommended for children aged five and up, each Bitzee evolves from baby, to adult, to a super Bitzee. Kids can collect up to 15 characters all in one pod, including a Puppy, Hedgehog and Bunny, and even rare (Butterfly, Poodle, Chameleon) and legendary characters (Mercat and Unicorn). Once their pet becomes a super Bitzee, kids can discover their special outfit and unique game to play – like Mouse Chef’s ‘catch the falling ingredients’ or Unicorn Party Animal’s ‘break the piñata’ game. They’ll even provide a virtual treat to attract a new pet.

Bitzee has a suggested retail price of £32.99 and will be available at all major retailers from July.
