plaY-room’s Miles Penhallow announces early retirement

Published on: 14th July 2020

The head of Toys & Children’s Gifts at plaY-room is retiring early after 12 years in the role.

Miles Penhallow retirementIn a statement, Miles said: “After 12 happy years at AIS Ltd, I have decided to take early retirement at the end of September this year to manage a small property portfolio and pursue other personal interests.

Although the past few months have been challenging for both members and suppliers, I believe that AIS is well placed to prosper in the future. Following the retirement of our Managing Director Sheila Cooper, I believe that her replacement, Sue Kemp, will provide the necessary drive, together with an enthusiastic team of employees and a solid membership.

I will miss the interaction with both members and suppliers, but believe that the successful blueprint that we created for play-room when formed in 2008 will continue to evolve to the benefit of our members under new leadership.

I would like to wish all our suppliers all the best in the years ahead. I truly believe that I am blessed to have made a living in the Toy Trade for over 30 years and will miss all the friends that I have made.”

Aimee Hill, assistant selector, added: “Miles has been pivotal in the growth and success of plaY-room’s twelve year history. His charisma and dedication will be missed not only within AIS but also within the wider toy industry, where he has made many close friendships. He may be beginning his next exciting chapter, however his innovation, fun and enthusiasm for toys will live on in plaY-room. We would like to extend our endless gratitude for Miles’ service and wish him good health and happiness during his retirement.”

plaY-room is planning to hold a streamlined buying event for members and selected buyers at the end of September, which Miles notes will be his last opportunity to say goodbye, if the event is able to take place as planned.
