Fence Club to host 50th Teddy Simmonds Golf Day

Published on: 21st March 2023

The 50th Teddy Simmonds Fence Club Golf Day is to be held at Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate on Thursday 15th June.

At the popular annual Fence Club Golf Day, golfers of all abilities are welcome, from those who only play a couple of times a year to others that play on a regular basis. Players do not have to be Fence Club members, or invited by a member, everyone is welcome to enter either as a team or as an individual – all individuals will be allocated to a team.

Those who don’t wish to play golf can just turn up for the evening and enjoy a three course dinner in convivial company.

As well as a day (and an evening) of golf and socialising, monies are raised for the Fence Club charity from an auction, fines and a raffle, alongside sponsorship and players’ entry fees. The event is just one of the many ways in which the Fence Club charity raises funds, and the day (and indeed the evening) is all about having fun, and raising money ‘for the children’.

The cost is £95 per person including golf, refreshments and a  three course evening meal. For those wising to just attend the  evening meal, the cost is £45 per person.

The event will take place on Thursday 15th June, and golfers must arrive one hour before their allocated tee off time (Timings TBC). The Oakdale Golf Club is located at Oakdale Glen, Harrogate, HG1 2LN.

There will be 18 holes and teams of four, and the following prizes will be awarded on the day:

  • Winning Team
  • Individual Stableford
  • Best Gross
  • Best Fence Club Member
  • Best Lady Golfer
  • Worst Fence Member
  • Worst Golfer of the Day

The golf is expected to finish around 5.30pm, and guests will gather for drinks at 6.30pm and dinner at 7.15pm. Fundraising, prizes and joviality are promised, followed by ‘networking’ in the bar.

A number of rooms have been secured at the White Hart Hotel in Harrogate for Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th June at a rate of £99 per night for bed and breakfast for a single and £109 for two people sharing a room.

Those interested should contact Simon Anslow on simon@harrogatefair.com who can also arrange Golf Buggy hire at £40.

Shortly, Fence Club members, Graham Canning, Kevin Jones and Andrew Laughton are joining Michael Angel and Keith Elmer in  walking 25km around Windsor Great Park and the surrounding area on Saturday, 1st April, to add to the Fence Club findraising pot. Toy World readers can support the intrepid walkers by visiting www.justgiving.com/fenceclub. 100% of all donations will go to the Fence Club charity and directly benefit the children it supports.
