Olobob Top appoints Those Licensing People

Published on: 26th February 2019

Owners of hit pre-school series Olobob Top, Steve Smith and Leigh Hodgkinson, have appointed the agency.

Those Licensing People will deliver a line-up of licensees with product lines which will resonate with the Olobob Top brand and support the growing popularity of Tib and friends.

Later this spring, the property, which first premiered on CBeebies in 2017, will release Series 2 with a further 26 episodes featuring the three main characters – Tib, Lalloo and Bobble. Narrated by acclaimed actor Stephen Mangan, the series won several industry awards in 2018 and was ranked in CBeebies’ top 10 shows for five of out of six weeks in its debut airing on the network. Olobob Top follows the adventures of the Olobobs in the forest where they live, having fun, exploring and solving problems. In every episode they create a new character to join in the fun by combining shapes, patterns and colours, with encouragement from the friendly narrator.

The deal, which covers UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand (the key markets where the series currently broadcasts) covers all sectors and categories. A publishing agreement is already in place with Bloomsbury, with four activity books already doing well at retail and another four scheduled for launch throughout 2019. Those Licensing People will initially focus on plush, stationery and arts and craft and support the brand with consumer PR activity during the year.

Leah Dever, licensing manager at Those Licensing People, commented: “From the minute we saw Olobob Top we knew it would fit perfectly with our portfolio and resonate with our agency principles. It’s bright, bold and encourages pre-school children to be creative and have fun. We are delighted to be partnered with Leigh and Steve and excited for the upcoming launch of Series 2 and the opportunities that will bring the brand.”

Olobob creator Steve Smith added: “Leigh and I are thrilled to be working with Those Licensing People. The instant we met, we knew they were the right partner for our creative, bright and imaginative show. We look forward to collaborating on Olobob Top.”
