Peterkin team to fundraise for Oxfam

Published on: 23rd October 2018

On 16th November the team will set out on the 100km Hong Kong Oxfam Trail walker.

The race runs the course of the MacLehose Trail starting in the east New Territories, and finishing in the west, covering a craggy terrain with an elevation gain of 4,730m, loss 4,630m. It is a gruelling course which has tested and defeated many fit and resilient competitors over the years since it was started in 1986.

Their target is to finish in under 24 hours. It is a team event, so success is based on all four of the team completing the 100km course.

The team commented: “Oxfam continues to be on the forefront of humanitarian crises. There are sadly too many ongoing in the world, but one especially in Asia is the awful brutality in Myanmar which forced almost a million Rohingya people to leave their homes to constricted makeshift camps in Bangladesh. Oxfam is struggling with resources in the face of severe monsoon rains. Flooding, landslides (the camps are on side of a hill) overflowing latrines and contaminated water will lead to inevitable outbreak of disease and potential loss of life. Oxfam has done a mountain of work in providing hygiene, sanitation and clean water delivery in the camps but need funds to continue the operation and save lives.

Your sponsorship of the Team Indigo in aid of Oxfam will be very much appreciated, and hopefully we will be able to share pictures of grinning and exhausted faces at the Finish. Thanks Andrei, Jonathan, Simon and Stephen.”

The team are aiming to raise around 30,000 HKD ($4,000). To donate, please use the team’s preferred option where possible, and send direct to:
