Spin Master continues to support The Big Bang Fair

Published on: 18th March 2019

The company has once again attended The Big Bang at Birmingham’s NEC.

The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair is the largest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people in the UK.

The Fair is an award-winning combination of engaging shows, interactive workshops, hands-on activities and careers information from STEM professionals, which aims to show young people (primarily aged 7-19) the exciting and rewarding opportunities out there for them. By bringing classroom learning to life, the show attracted over 80,000 visitors in 2018.

Spin Master’s Meccano stand combines fun with learning, giving kids the opportunity to follow step-by-step instructions to build a wide variety of cars, bikes, planes, and more. Alternatively, visitors can design and construct their own creations, fitting together the universal parts using the tools which come with the kits, to demonstrate the never-ending opportunity of this historic and enduring activity.

At over 100 years old, Meccano has seen the first television broadcast, the invention of the tank, ejector seat, hovercraft, PC, email, mobile phone, and the internet. Since Spin Master acquired the brand in 2013, award winning sets like the F1 Ferrari and the 4ft tall Meccanoid G15 KS robot have hit stores, inspiring a new age of engineering and innovation.

Becca Hanlon, senior brand manager for Meccano, said: “We are delighted to once again bring Meccano to this fantastic event and provide our popular activity for young visitors to enjoy. It’s always a rewarding experience to get Meccano into the hands of keen and enquiring minds, helping to ignite and further fuel their passion for science and and engineering as potential study subjects.”
