The film will be the third instalment in the series from Universal’s DreamWorks Dragons franchise, set for release on 1st February 2019.

As Hiccup fulfils his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.

Both of the previous two films were very successful at the box office, the first making $495.8m, and the second $621.5m.

How To Train Your Dragon has since been made into a Netflix series, and was originally a series of twelve main young adult novels, as well as companion and reference books, by Cressida Cowell.
