Asmodee’s Board Game Club takeover a success

Published on: 20th July 2018

An Asmodee takeover drew record numbers to London’s Board Game Club on Wednesday evening.

With Soho’s exclusive Century Club filled to capacity, guests found the Asmodee range catering for all tastes, while Coiledspring also premiered a brand new game. Board Game Club’s co-founder, Lesley Singleton, commented: “Asmodee’s games aren’t just known for being diverse: they’re high-quality and crowd-pleasing too – that’s certainly one of the reasons why the night was so popular.”

At the calmer end of the spectrum were the tree-growing strategy game Photosynthesis, and the tile-shifting favourite Azul. In complete contrast, Coiledspring debuted its raucous new action game Funky Chicken. While this arm-flapping, chicken-squawking game definitely stands alone, it’s designed to combine with its predecessor Happy Salmon as well, noise levels permitting.

Asmodee’s Ben Hogg, added: “We’re really pleased with how popular our second Board Game Club take-over proved to be. We focused on our Modern Classics and Fun Fast Games ranges, and it was great to see the night supported by a mix of inventors, indie retailers and games fans. Our team enjoyed demonstrating newer titles like Decrypto and Ticket to Ride New York to the crowd. Our brand new card game, Who Did It, was a massive hit on the night.”

Board Game Club continues to blend card, dice, party, board and novelty games to provide “can’t-miss” dates in the diary. The ever-popular evenings let games enthusiasts and industry insiders meet, mingle and play in a relaxed, informal way. And while Board Game Club is taking a break next month, it returns to Century Club, Soho, on Wednesday 18th September with another big brand take-over, details of which will be announced next month.
