Lego Hidden Side introduces new sets for 2020 and new game mode

Published on: 9th December 2019

The new multiplayer mode lets friends team up to hunt and catch ghosts together.

Lego Hidden Side, the interactive play experience where kids use an Augmented Reality app to hunt and catch ghosts in special Lego sets, will begin 2020 with the launch of new products and a multiplayer game mode. Six new sets will be introduced: Haunted Fairground, Lighthouse of Darkness, El Fuego’s Stunt Plane, Welcome to the Hidden Side, Jack’s Beach Buggy and Newbury Subway.

The new multiplayer feature, which is compatible with all new sets, lets kids take part in thrilling challenges with friends either online or with those in the same room. Simply build and scan the Lego Hidden Side set using the app and choose from one of two new game modes. Play as a Hunter mode is where the aim is to catch ghosts in competition against other players either online or in the same room, and the Play as a Ghost mode is where kids can join two other online ghost players with the aim of haunting Lego Hidden Side sets and hiding from a player-controlled ghost hunter.

As part of The Lego Group’s commitment to developing safe and fun digital play experiences for children, a number of safeguards have been incorporated into the new multiplayer feature. During online games, players can only communicate with each other via a fixed set of fun Lego inspired emojis, stickers and phrases. The player communication is focused on inspiring and encouraging players to compete together and complimenting others on their performance. No voice chat or other communication methods will be available.

All sets launching in 2020 will be compatible with the new multiplayer feature along with the 2019 sets, which will be available to play in multiplayer in early 2020.
