During the pandemic, Tonies made the donations to pre-schools and nurseries across the UKs that were kept open during lockdown and provided vital childcare support to key worker parents. The brand gifted 50 Toniebox children’s audio systems, which play children’s favourite stories and songs. The Toniebox allows parents, family members and friends to record messages, which can be recorded and uploaded via the free Tonie-App, allowing children to continue to feel connected to loved ones.

Kelly Burton, manager at Alphabet House Day Nursery in Lowdham, Nottinghamshire said, “The Toniebox enabled the children to receive messages from their parents and carers in a fun way. At a time when they were experiencing lots of change in their lives, these messages helped the children to feel comforted during their day. The children also had lots of fun recording themselves and listening to songs and stories. They loved operating the Toniebox and it greatly helped them develop their ICT and thinking skills.”

Manon Sel, Toniebox general manager for the UK commented, “We are thrilled to have been able to support so many nurseries, pre-schools and children across the UK. It’s been a very difficult few months for both parents and children, and donating our Tonieboxes to help entertain and inspire young minds was the least that we could do.”

This is not the first time that Tonies has felt compelled to help during the pandemic. In April, Tonies launched its ‘Record and Share for the NHS’ campaign to help raise money for the NHS, whilst also trying to keep children entertained and connected. Working with celebrities such as Ruth Jones, Griff Rhys Jones, Suki Waterhouse and Jane Horrocks, as well as key workers, Tonies recorded them reading their favourite childhood story. The company also worked with Giles Pyley Phillips to create an audio book explaining the Coronavirus for children that was available for free download for the Creative-Tonie.
