Asmodee owners rumoured to be looking to sell the company for 2b Euros

Published on: 27th September 2021

According to a report on the Board Game Quest website, PAI Partners is in the process of exploring its options for a sale of the Asmodee business.

Board Game Quest, a specialist website for the hobby gaming market, quotes Stephen Bounocore, the now-retired publisher of Stronghold Games (one of the publishers distributed by Asmodee), who posted on Facebook and Twitter last Friday that Asmodee is close to being sold by PAI Partners, the VC company which owns them.

Further details remain scant: it would appear that the UK Asmodee operation is aware of the speculation, but is not in a position to offer any comment at this stage.

PAI Partners bought Asmodee in 2018 for 1.2b Euros from Eurazeo, another investment fund, which had originally acquired the games company in 2014 for a figure of approximately 143m Euros. If PAI Partners is able to secure the 2b Euros it is allegedly seeking for Asmodee, that would represent a significant profit in only three years.

According to the report, PAI Partners has reportedly engaged the bank Goldman Sachs and Natixis Partners to help with the sale process.

Toy World will bring you further details as and when they are confirmed.
