Dantoy launches new biobased tableware for kids

Published on: 21st July 2022

Danish manufacturer Dantoy is expanding its range to include the tableware which follows the same sustainability values as its toys.

Best known for its sand and water toys, Dantoy is moving into tableware for kids with a range which has a focus on sustainability and children’s development.

The toy manufacturer, which has been making toys for 58 years, says the range will encapsulate the same values and quality of its toys with a focus on children’s growing proficiency, motor skills development and hand-eye coordination.

“For a long period, we have wanted to expand our assortment to other categories in the children’s universe, and we decided to start with a biobased tableware,” said sales manager Anne Krogh Harding, “Our focus has been to create attractive and fashionable colours that symbolizes sustainability and associates to Dantoy and, as always, the range carries a focus on children’s development of colour coordination etc.”

The products are produced from biobased material and therefore follow Dantoy’s sustainable vision and values. Dantoy’s latest Blue Marine line of toys, launched in February, is made from marine waste such as old fishing ropes. It is estimated that more than 12m tonnes of plastic ends up in the sea every year, and 10% of this is maritime gear such as nets, lines and ropes. Armed with these facts, Dantoy says it was a natural choice for the team to develop a line where such items can become a part of a sustainable and circular economy.

Before the Blue Marine line, the company launched products made from the company’s own waste and sees the continuation of this sustainable journey, to produce the new tableware with biobased material, as a natural next step.

The tableware will be available in stores and online from summer 2022 and will have global distribution including the UK.
