Playmobil follows up Wiltopia success with new additions for 2023

Published on: 11th November 2022

Following on from the success of its sustainable Wiltopia range, Playmobil has announced some new additions for 2023.

Wiltopia Tropical Jungle Playground

Since its launch in August, Playmobil’s Wiltopia range has scooped several awards and was the most successful new launch in the Sustainable Toys 2022 sector in the UK, according to NPD UK.

Two new sets, the Tropical Jungle Playground and Wiltopia Paddling Tour with River Dolphins, will continue the adventures in the Amazon rainforest for 2023.

The Wiltopia range is made from recycled and bio-based plastic, with the current initial wave featuring 12 baby animals and 15 medium-sized and large adult animals.

It is the first product range from Playmobil to be made from an average of over 80% sustainable material. PCR plastic, plastic that has already been used by consumers and then fed back into the recycling loop, as well as bio-based plastics are used.

Wiltopia has received several awards in the UK, including a gold medal in the Best Eco Toy category at the BlogOn Awards for its Large Animal Care Station. The Wiltopia animal sets were also considered Best Eco Toy with a bronze placement in the MadeForMums Awards.

“Wiltopia has seen great success this year across the Playmobil business; the animals and their educational content have gone down a storm,” said Adam Moore, marketing communications manager for Playmobil.

“We are proud of the awards that keep rolling in for the range, particularly because of the positive and educational messaging around it. The Wiltopia Advent Calendar has just featured on ITV’s This Morning as one of this year’s must have advent calendars, so its popularity continues to be recognised.”

He added: “2023 looks to continue the trend with some great products coming early in the year which will have marketing support across key times of the year.”
