Jazwares to enter the costume category

Published on: 21st April 2021

Jazwares has signed a deal with Disney Consumer Products for a range of Marvel costumes and accessories, which will debut in the US market in ‘22.

Reports from the US indicate that Jazwares is the latest toy company to enter the costume category, after it signed a deal with Disney to produce a range of Marvel costumes and costume accessories. The new line will make its debut in the American market next year. According to the reports, additional deals with other licensing companies are expected to be announced over the next few months.

The Marvel range will apparently comprise an assortment of licensed costumes, costume accessories and pet costumes from the Marvel Universe’s selection of films, TV series and comic books. Early indications suggest that costumes will be available for both adults and children.

Commenting on the deal, Judd Zebersky, Jazwares CEO, said: “Marvel has been a defining force in the entertainment and comic landscape for decades, and we are ready to take play to a whole new level by helping fans transform into their favourite signature Super Hero looks that are perfect for Halloween, Cosplay, or everyday fun. We are thrilled to be expanding our business, and ready to bring Jazwares’ iconic innovation, value and quality to the costume category.”

Posting on LinkedIn, Jazwares EVP Michael Rinzler commented: “Jazwares is excited to launch our new costume business with the incredible Marvel team. We are going to build a world-class team who will become the premiere player in the costume space.”

There is no news yet as to when – or even whether – the range will be made available to UK retailers. Earlier this year, former Rubies’ managing director Holly Oldham joined Jazwares as managing director for the UK and Nordic region – Holly started her career with dress-up company Christys before moving to Rubies, so she has considerable experience in the category.
