Mattel and Family Entertainment Live partner on N. America Monster High tour

Published on: 23rd February 2023

Seasoned producer Full Stop Productions has been tapped to create and design the touring production Monster High Live, centred on Mattel’s globally-celebrated IP.

Family Entertainment Live and Mattel have announced Monster High Live, a national tour kicking off in September 2023.

Monster High Live will deliver music, dancing and important messages of acceptance and inclusion to its passionate fandom. The news marks the second time Family Entertainment Live and Mattel have collaborated, having brought the popular Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live national tour to life in 2019.

The all-new cast of Monster High Live will take the franchise’s beloved stars Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura and Frankie Stein through a storyline centred on preparing for the school’s annual Monster Ball. Hit music from the film and animated series, as well as familiar pop songs, will be featured in production numbers as the characters realise that their differences are meant to be embraced.

Monster High Live launches on the heels of the popular Monster High The Movie, a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award nominated live-action musical that debuted at No.1 in 22 countries on Paramount+ and Nickelodeon during its launch week. Monster High, an animated series based on the Mattel IP, is currently airing on Nickelodeon.

Mattel first introduced Monster High in 2010, and it quickly became one of the most successful and beloved kids’ properties of all time. The franchise seeks to foster a more accepting world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self.

Today, Monster High is back with a reimagined cast of characters reflected in a new set of dolls, accessories, apparel, costumes and more, all inspired by the original ghouls. The refreshed property resonates among a new generation of kids, as it embraces what makes the characters unique and rallies people everywhere to express themselves. Production on both a new season of Nickelodeon’s hit animated series Monster High and a sequel to Monster High The Movie are underway.

“There is nothing quite like experiencing a live event with thousands of fans who love the same characters and storylines as you,” said Ken Hudgens, CEO of Family Entertainment Live. “In teaming up with Mattel and Full Stop Productions, we’re able to translate Monster High to the stage and bring fans together, in person, for the first time.”

“We were so excited to relaunch Mattel’s iconic Monster High franchise in 2022 to the delight of fans all around the world,” said Julie Freeland, senior director of Global Location Based Entertainment at Mattel. “In a short time, the brand has already delivered new, highly popular dolls, an animated series and a live action movie musical. We’re thrilled that Monster High is hitting the road, extending this exciting franchise relaunch into a live experience for families nationwide.”
