Simba Smoby ramps up pre-summer campaigns with celeb ambassadors

Published on: 21st March 2023

Having secured the support of high-profile personalities for its range of Playhouses, Smoby is once again proving a must-have outdoor brand.

Simba Smoby Toys UK is ramping up its spring/summer marketing ahead of the seasonal outdoor toy months.

Kicking off the company’s latest marketing efforts is a new ambassadorship with presenter Ashley Louise James, who will be publicising her affiliation with the brand at the end of March. Ashley will be promoting key lines from within the Smoby and AquaPlay ranges over the coming months.

The brand is also in high demand with other household names such as Alfie Deyes and Zoe Sugg. Alfie and Zoe were gifted the Smoby Garden Playhouse. Their daughter Ottilie loved it so much the pair went on to create content including Instagram posts and a YouTube video of them building the playhouse, which has received over 222k views to date. Since then, further gifting and paid-for partnerships have got underway, with more content going live over the coming weeks.

Ben Hogg, head of Marketing, Simba Smoby Toys UK, commented: “Ashley and her son Alf are already fans of Smoby after purchasing the Garden Playhouse last year and working with us on an AquaPlay project. This was therefore a natural partnership for us when picking our ambassador and we can’t wait to see her content. Add to this the organic support from Alfie and Zoe and we are well underway to solidifying Smoby as a lifestyle choice for every UK garden this summer.”

The Smoby influencer marketing is just one part of the brand’s UK plans, which also include experiential events – including, as last year, a huge play area sponsorship at the Gloworm Family Festival – a comprehensive media plan, an always-on social media strategy and further partnerships to come.
